Twitter Teaches People Nothing About How to Be a Bartender

Also someone with very little teaching experience when it comes to the bartending arts is Mike Doe, but at least he is telling "jokes" at http://twitter.com/mikedoe.

How to Be a Bartender ... Watch Bartenders!

This is perhaps the best piece of advice. Watch bartenders every time you're out at a bar, tavern and/or nightclub. Watch the way the bartenders handle themselves. Notice the way they use the equipment, the way they pour, mix and muddle. Also the way they comport (nice word, eh?) themselves.

The first step in becoming a bartender, or better one, is to model yourself after the best. Start today.

Happy drinking! Er, I mean, Learning!

Counting Your Pours

When you have a regulation "pourer" atop a liquor bottle, you'll be pouring about 1/4 of an ounce for each second you pour. So 1 ounce of liquor would be a 4-second pour, or a 4-count.
